Collection: Chris Power Woodcraft

Hand-turned pens crafted from Ireland’s historic woods, each one a unique piece of Irish craftsmanship.

A writing instrument shaped by hand, not by factory.

Chris Power is an independent Irish woodturner whose work celebrates one of Ireland’s most enduring craft traditions. Working in small batches from his studio in County Kerry, he handcrafts each pen from native Irish hardwoods, shaping, sanding, and finishing every piece individually on the lathe.

Woodturning has long been a vital part of Ireland’s woodworking heritage, yet the craft is rarely seen outside the country. Chris’s work continues this tradition, transforming local timber into functional objects that highlight the beauty and character of Irish wood.

There is no mass production and no automated assembly. From raw timber to final polish, every pen passes through the maker’s hands, creating writing instruments that feel balanced, tactile, and distinctly personal.

Chris’s pieces are crafted from Irish native woods, including bog oak, ash, and reclaimed whiskey barrels. These timbers, literally rooted in Ireland’s ancient forests, develop rich color, subtle tonal variation, and grain patterns over time. The result is a pen that carries the quiet character of the wood’s previous life.

At Éirden, we selected Chris Power Woodcraft for its authenticity and dedication to traditional craft. These handcrafted pens are not found outside Ireland.

Each piece is handcrafted in Ireland and curated as part of our verified Irish artisan collection.
